6 Must Do Australian Walks

Need some inspiration for trip activities on a budget? What if we told you that you could have some of the most epic experiences for only a few dollars? It's no lie - there are a handful of great short walks to enjoy no matter where you are in Australia that will not only give you some lifelong memories but also not eat into your spending money! Here are a few of our favourites.

Canyon Walk, Kings Canyon - NT

Does the sound of walking in a canyon inspire you? What about one that takes you through aptly named places such as "The Garden Of Eden" and the "Lost City?" If that wasn't tempting enough to get you pulling your shoes on, the promise of 360 views will. This classic 3-4 hour walk is something special!

Byron Bay - NSW

Spectacular coastal views whilst walking along clifftops to the iconic lighthouse form the basis of this walk. Short but sweet, it's worth taking the time and stopping frequently to soak up the locations - pack the camera and get ready to be mesmerised by nature.

Uluru Base Walk - NT

Embrace spiritual Australia with a walk around the base of Uluru. Start early, yes we're talking sunrise early to make the most of the cool morning (before the day really heats up.) Pack the muesli bars, fruit and even a flask of coffee if you're prepared, and enjoy breakfast on the trail under the mesmerising stare of this spiritual location.

Carnarvon Gorge - QLD

Within the area, there are a number of walks to enjoy - from shorter 2km ones to 18km if you're feeling fit. Our favourite is the 10km return Gorge Mouth Walk taking you past Baloon Cave, Mickeys Creek, The Rockpool and Boolimba Bluff. If you've got the time it's well worth staying a few days and really soaking up the area.

Wineglass Bay to Hazards Beach- TAS

Picture perfect in every way, you won’t be able to take your days off the scenery on this 11k walk. One of Tasmania's celebrated locations, it's well worth making a day of this walk, taking the time to enjoy the stunning Hazards Beach - perfect for a relax, you may even see some wildlife soaking up the sun. Pack the picnic, towel and swimmers and prepare for a day to remember.

Karijini Gorge - WA

Another location worthy of a few days to fit everything in, there are a number of walks taking in the gorge-ous surroundings. Our favourites are the Hancock and Joffre Gorge walks, both unique in their own right, but both providing a trip through the gorge and finishing off at a stunning water feature, the perfect place for a snack whilst you relax and take it all in.
