Accident Liability for your Car Hire

When you rent a car, it's important to know you're protected should the unthinkable happen. All cars are insured for damage to the vehicle or to the property of a Third Party.

    Standard insurance is included in the rental rate. Upon vehicle collection a vehicle security deposit of AUD $100.00 is payable. The bond is recorded against the credit card as an authorisation.

    The hirer is responsible for the “excess” being the first AUD $550.00 ($605 for XVAR and PVAR, $1,100 for the FFAR) of the cost of damage to third party property or to the rented vehicle, including towing and recovery costs, theft, fire, break-in or vandalism and tyre, headlight and windscreen damage. This also includes the cost of the daily rental for the period the vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs.

  • AWD/4WD COVER*

    Standard AWD SUV and Large 4WD only AU$16.50

     

    AWD/4WD Cover is compulsory for the Standard AWD SUV and Large 4WD vehicles to be covered while travelling on unsealed roads. 4WD Cover is payable on pick up.

    Single Vehicle Accident Liability Fee (SVALF) of AU$2200 will apply for Single Vehicle Accidents in the event of damage or third party loss that occurs on an unsealed roads, when AWD/4WD Cover is purchased. The SVALF is in addition to any “liability” already existing as part of the Rental Agreement.

    Snow Cover (June to October)*

    Only all-wheel drive (AWD) vehicles are permitted above the snow line. Snow cover must be purchased and is AU$22.00 (AU$35.00 for the Large 4WD) per day inclusive of GST. This cannot be pre-booked but can be added to the rental upon vehicle collection.

    FAQ

    What is Security Deposit?
    Standard insurance is included in the rental rate. A refundable security deposit (which is held as your 'Accident Liability') is required. The 'Security deposit' is recorded against your credit card as an imprint.

    What is Accident Liability?
    Accident liability is the maximum dollar amount (cost) per accident the hirer is responsible for should there be an accident. This includes damage to the rental vehicle and any thrid party property. 

    NOTE: Please see the "exclusions" section in the Rental agreement, whereby all insurance cover will be made void.
